place matters a lot recently i have been to Bombay.... i visited for a couple of time but never had a chance to visit the city just the airport was known to me but this time i had to stay in city for a couple of days ....... a taught arise in my mind when i saw slum dog millonare movie why only Mumbai why not any other place because each and every state have slum some or the other way in India... but when i have seen the place in real the title was apt..... i even wondered why the worlds richest person ambani had 36 floors of house instead can built in acres...... obviously his house is big but not vertically its horizontally ...... wonder how people stay in those small houses ..... i was almost shocked seeing the houses u find small small tress growing on the walls.... no house in Bombay can waste place like having balcony's and all stuff as we have it in hyd or Chennai or Bangalore .... i thank god i am born in a spacious city .......

the caption "I dont have you;I dont love you ..........its just our routes are different" is well said by someone who is close quiet enough .....it was they who made delinquent taught off, it was they who again was a reason for being away frm parents, it was they for which- had to be all alone in life for the coming future, when a girl loves someone she is ready to pay for anything but a boy doesnt this itself shows that the routes are diffrent even tough a girl wil be patient for every thing ........... when a girl gets married she leaves are family and comes to a new family where every thing is new for her its takes time for her to get adjusted for the stituation she is in ..... at this moment its the minimum responsibilty of the person who married the girl for wich he is commited. This is undoubtfully a time taking procedure for wich a girl needs to get adjusted for a new family which depends from person to person or even on family to family .... I still have a doubt why did GOD made it to be so that it is always when girl is married she sholud go to the boys house. why cant it be in the other way? why is that a boy should not or canot leave his family and come to the girls house ....... Probably if this was the situation how would boys feel abt their parents........ this can never happen in a Hippocratic society....

Those programs prevent LOVE from being properly installed. Can you turn those off ma'am?

Customer: I don't know how to turn them off. Can you tell me how?

The November 2008 Mumbai Attacks were a series of ten coordinated attacks committed by Islamic terrorists, which began across Mumbai, India's financial capital and largest city, on 26 November 2008 and ended on 29 November 2008 when Indian security forces finally regained control of all attack sites. At least 172 people including at least 35 foreign nationals, have been confirmed dead and at least 370 have been injured. Eight attacks took place in South Mumbai: at the crowded Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) railway station; at two five-star hotels: the Oberoi Trident at Nariman Point, and Taj Mahal Palace & Tower near the Gateway of India; at the Leopold Cafe, a popular tourist restaurant in Colaba; at the Cama Hospital; at the Orthodox Jewish-owned Nariman House; at the Metro Adlabs movie theatre; and at the Mumbai Police Headquarters where at least three high-level officers, including the chief of the Anti Terrorism Squad of Maharashtra, were killed by gunfire. There was also an explosion at Mazagaon docks in Mumbai's port area. The tenth incident involved a taxi blast at Vile Parle near the airport but it is uncertain whether this is connected with the South Mumbai attacks.
A previously unknown organization identifying itself as the Deccan Mujahideen claimed responsibility by email sent to news organizations. The email was traced by investigators to have originated in Pakistan. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has said the attacks probably had "external linkages", believing that the attack could not have occurred without help. According to police reports, the one terrorist who was captured alive disclosed that the attackers belonged to the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba Islamist group, which may have severe consequences for India–Pakistan relations. The Indian Mujahideen terrorist group had also threatened in September 2008 to carry out bombings at sites in Mumbai. According to some news reports, a militant holding hostages at the Oberoi told an Indian TV channel that they wanted all 'Mujahideen' in Indian prisons released before they released their hostages. He also indicated that there were seven terrorists holding hostages at that location. Other reports indicate that this demand was made through a hostage at the Mumbai Chabad House, in a call to the Israeli embassy in New Delhi. Experts have conflicting views as to whether Al Qaeda played a role in the attacks.
After two days of gunfire and explosions, the attack was incorrectly reported ceased as of the early morning of 28 November in Mumbai. The fires were out and soldiers were leading hostages and holed-up guests to safety and removing bodies of those killed in the attacks. Nariman House and the Oberoi Trident were cleared of hostages by Indian commandos. Five hostages were killed at the Jewish center. Later news reports indicated that there were still two or three terrorists in the Taj, with explosions heard and gunfire exchanged. Fires were also reported as having been caused at the ground floor of the Taj with plumes of smoke arising from the first floor . Severe damage has been reported to the Taj, with a dome, and parts of the Heritage Wing of the Taj reported to be destroyed. National Security Guards action resulted in the conclusion of the Taj encounter, with three terrorists reported killed

Mumbai's terrorist attacks created two insistent lines of suspicion. Some argue the scale and lethality of the multiple, coordinated assaults were too sophisticated to be homegrown. They seek outside links, especially Pakistan. Others say the attackers knew the targets too well not to be local.

As many as 16 groups hit at least 10 sites on the southern flank of the crowded metropolis on Thursday. The Taj Mahal, one of two luxury hotels targeted by gunmen, was engulfed in flames hours after the assaults began.

Another view is meant to serve as a spark suppressor: The attacks betrayed knowledge of Mumbai's financial district and an ease of movement that argues for terrorists from inside the country. The subtext here is emotions and political heat could ignite a conflagration. India and Pakistan have repeatedly shed blood over the disputed province of Kashmir. Both have nuclear arms.
Feelings are raw in the shocked aftermath, and subject to exploitation. The Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party blames the attacks on the ruling Congress party for eroding terrorist legislation pushed by the opposition BJP.
Rounding up the usual suspects is further complicated by a bloody history of civilian attacks in Mumbai and across India. An unknown Islamic group, Deccan Mujahedin is claiming credit for the slaughter that began Wednesday. Another group with blood on its hands has said it was not responsible. Yet another group attacked India's parliament in 2001. The bloodiest assault in Mumbai dates to 1993 when a criminal syndicate killed 257 people.
The United States is treading softly, volunteering to send investigators to help piece the puzzle together, but the offer is being carefully handled so as not to offend Pakistan. The U.S., which recently signed a nuclear accord with India, has its hands full in Afghanistan and along the border it shares with Pakisthan

DIWALI : THE FESTIVE OF LAMPS

Diwali is a five day Hindu festival which occurs on the fifteenth day of Kartika. Diwali means "rows of lighted lamps" and the celebration is often referred to as the Festival of Lights. During this time, homes are thoroughly cleaned and windows are opened to welcome Laksmi, goddess of wealth. Candles and lamps are lit as a greeting to Laksmi. Gifts are exchanged and festive meals are prepared during Diwali. The celebration means as much to Hindus as Christmas does to Christians.

Because there are many regions in India, there are many manifestations of the Diwali festival. In at least one area, the festival begins with Dhanteras, a day set aside to worship Laksmi. In the Indian culture, wealth is not viewed as a corruptive power. Instead, a wealthy person is considered to have been rewarded for good deeds of a past life.

On the second day Kali, the goddess of Strength, is worshipped. This day also focuses on abolishing laziness and evil.

On the third day (the last day of the year in the lunar calendar), lamps are lighted and shine brightly in every home. The lamp symbolizes knowledge and encourages reflection upon the purpose of each day in the festival. The goal is to remember the purpose throughout the year.

The fourth day of Diwali falls on the first day of the lunar New Year. At this time, old business accounts are settled and new books are opened. The books are worshipped in a special ceremony and participants are encouraged to remove anger, hate, and jealousy from their lives.

On the final day (Balipratipada) of the festival, Bali, an ancient Indian king, is recalled. Bali destroyed the centuries old philosophies of the society. However, in addition to this, he is remembered for being a generous person. Thus, the focus of this day is to see the good in others, including enemies.

Because there is no one universally accepted Hindu calendar, this holiday may be celebrated on a different date in some parts of India, but it always falls in the months of October or November

It is celebrated to commemorate the homecoming of Lord Rama, his wife Sita and brother Bharat after spending 14yrs in exile. The citizens of Ayodhya, joyous to have their King back home, welcomed Rama with heart full of joy. They lighted their
homes and streets with lamps, decorated the city with flowers and danced and sang with joy.

DIWALI NIGHT_______________________________________This occasion being auspicious people drive away the dark forces by decorating their homes and streets with lamps, performing puja at their homes, offering sweets to neighbours, friends and relatives and forgetting differences by embracing and greeting each other. Fireworks
are a part of Diwali. People gather to burn their fireworks thus enjoying the spectacular spectacles together. The night sky of the city becomes lighted with colourful fireworks. Children are seen burning their fireworks under the guidance of their parents. The whole atmosphere remains surcharged with fun and gaiety.

PREPARATION _____________________________On the eve of Diwali children built small mud houses known as 'Diwali Ghar'. These houses are painted, decorated with colours and lighted. Idols of Lakshmi and Ganesh are kept inside the 'Diwali Ghar'. 'Rangolies' are created in front of the house and Puja is performed on the day of Diwali. Homemakers and shopkeepers clean their homes and shops and give a new look to their places of dwelling and business. New dresses are
boughtand sweets are made to offer to the guests. Friends and relatives are welcomed and offered gifts.

NAVA RATRI
Navratri is a Hindu festival of worship and dance. The word Navaratri literally means nine nights in Sanskrit; Nava meaning Nine and Ratri meaning nights. During these nine nights and ten days, nine forms of Shakti/Devi i.e. female divinity are worshipped.

Significance
The beginning of spring and the beginning of autumn are two very important junctions of climatic and solar influence. These two periods are taken as sacred opportunities for the worship of the Divine Mother. The dates of the festival are determined according to the lunar calendar.

Dasahara, meaning ‘ten days’, becomes dasara in popular parlance. The Navaratri festival or ‘nine day festival’ becomes ‘ten days festival’ with the addition of the last day, Vijaya-dasami which is its culmination. On all these ten days, Mother Mahisasura-mardini (Durga) is worshipped with fervour and devotion.

Traditions of Navaratri

There are five Navaratris devoted to the worship of Shakti (Parvati or Durga). Out of these only three are being celebrated now.

1. Sharada Navaratri - This is the Navaratri, which is celebrated during Sharad Ritu (beginning of winter) (Sept-Oct). This is also called Maha Navaratri. Sharada became Sharad in some places. This celebrates the slaying of Mahishasura by Durga. The festival is observed in most parts of India - especially in the East.

2. Vasant Navaratri - This is celebrated during Vasant Ritu (beginning of summer) (March- April). This Navaratri is celebrated in North India. Vaishno Devi temple in Jammu observes Navaratri during this period.

3. Ashada Navaratri - This Navaratri is particularly important for all Upasakas of Varahi- Celebrated in July-August. This is called Guhya Navaratri in Himachal Pradesh. Varahi is one of the seven Matrikas of Devi Mahatmya!

Sharad Navaratri

Commences on the first and ends on the tenth day of the bright half of the lunar month Aswayuja/Asvina.
‘The Navaratri festival has to be celebrated during the bright fortnight of the month of Asvina, in the order of pratipada, etc, until the navami ends,’ says the Dhaumya-vacana.

Vasantha Navaratri

This is celebrated during Vasantha Ruthu (beginning of summer) (March- April). This is also known as Chaitra navaratri as it falls during the lunar month of Chithra.

The Navratri commences on the first day (pratipada) of the bright fortnight of the lunar month of Ashwin. The festival is celebrated for nine nights once every year during the beginning of October, although as the dates of the festival are determined according to the lunar calendar, the festival may be held for a day more or a day less.
Navaratri is celebrated in different ways throughout India. In North India, all three Navratris are celebrated with much fervor by fasting on all nine days and worshipping the Goddess Parvati in her different forms. The Chaitra Navratri culmintes in Ram Navami and the Sharad Navratri culminates in Durga Puja and Dussehra. The Dussehra of Kulu in Himachal Pradesh is particularly famous in the North.

In the South Indian states of Tamil Nadu & Karnataka, Sharad Navratri is celebrated by setting up of Golu (pronounced as Golu or Kolu) or Bombegalu. It is believed[who?] that this was a means to invite people home to celebrate the festivities with them. In Karanataka, particularly Mysore on the 10th day the enacting of destruction of evil (Ravana destroyed by Rama) is displayed with the lighting of dolls representing Ravana and forces of evil (2.5 millennia earlier version of the British Guy Faukes Day - Nov 5th).

The last four days of Sharad Navratri take on a particularly dramatic form in the state of West Bengal in East India where they are celebrated as Durga Puja. This is the biggest festival of the year in this state. Exquisitely crafted and decorated life-size clay idols of the Goddess Durga depicting her slaying the demon Mahisasura are set up in temples and other places. These idols are then worshipped for five days and immersed in the river on the fifth day.

In West India, Sharad Navratri is celebrated with the famous Garba dance.
Navratri is divided into sets of three days to adore three different aspects of the supreme goddess or goddesses.

First three days

The goddess is invoked as a spiritual force called Durga also known as kali in order to destroy all our impurities, vices and defects..

Second three days

The Mother is adored as a giver of spiritual wealth, Lakshmi, who is considered to have the power of bestowing on her devotees inexhaustible wealth. She is the goddess of wealth.

Final three days

The final set of three days is spent in worshipping the goddess of wisdom, Saraswati. In order to have all-round success in life, believers seek the blessings of all three aspects of the divine femininity, hence the nine nights of worship.

In South India, Saraswathi pooja is performed on the 7th day. Eight day is traditionally Durgashtami which is big in Bengal. The 9th day is Ayudha Pooja when everyone gives their tools of the trade -- pens, machinery, books, automobiles, school work, etc. a rest and ritually worships them. They start afresh from the next day, the 10th day which is considered as 'Vijaya Dashami'. Many teachers/Schools in south India start teaching Kindergarten children from that day onwards. Students also pay homage to their respective teachers as they are considered the third god (Maathaa, Pitha, Guru, Daivam - Mother, Father, Teacher & God). On this tenth day of

Navratri in October - the holiday of Dussehra or Dasara, an effigy of Ravana is burnt to celebrate the victory of good (Rama) over evil.
During Navratri, some devotees of Durga observe a fast and prayers are offered for the protection of health and prosperity. A period of introspection and purification, Navratri is traditionally an auspicious and religious time for starting new ventures.
During this vowed religious observance, a pot is installed (ghatasthapana) at a sanctified place at home. A lamp is kept lit in the pot for nine days. The pot symbolizes the universe. The uninterrupted lit lamp is the medium through which we worship the effulgent Adishakti, i.e. Sree Durgadevi. During Navratri, the principle of Sree Durgadevi is more active in the atmosphere.

Navratri is celebrated in a large number of Indian communities. The mother goddess is said to appear in 9 forms, and each one is worshipped for a day. These nine forms signify various traits that the goddess influences us with. The Devi Mahatmya and other texts invoking the Goddess who vanquished demons are cited.
